Student Policy Debate

The ASPA Annual Conference supports the development of future public managers. As a part of the five-day conference, several special events are organized to provide opportunities for students and young professionals to interact with peers and sharpen their skills. One such event is the annual Student Policy Debate organized by the Conference on Minority Public Administration (COMPA).

For the past 10 years, COMPA has been hosting this debate as a way to enhance student policy analysis and articulation skills. Students are given topics related to current issues to debate before an audience. This year’s Policy Debate, held Sunday, March 17 featured four teams. It was coordinated by Dr. Frances Liddell of Jackson State University. Among this year’s topics was gun regulation. To see pictures from the debate, visit the ASPA Flickr page.
