Biography of Dovie D. Dawson Dovie D. Dawson’s professional experience consists of 25 years in the public, private and business sectors. Currently, she is an Associate Faculty at Ashford University and teaches undergraduate political science and American national government classes. Also, she works for an educational company as a Tutor/Field Representative and focuses on instructing students under the NCLB Act. On a business note, she has been listed in the Cambridge’s Who’s Who Registry of Executives and Professionals for several years and won several business awards. Dovie is currently a Ph.D. student in the Public Policy and Administration program with a Law and Public Policy concentration at Walden University. Sheholds a Masters in Public Administration (concentration: Public Policy and Budget Analysis) and a Bachelor of Arts (major: Interdisciplinary Studies, minor: Political Science) both from California State University Dominguez Hills. Herdissertation topic is focused on whether or not K-12 students are proficient in English and Math that have partaken in the No Child Left Behind (NCLB) program. Further, her research interests include public policy formation in the area of public education and the behavior of women politicians. Writing is a love of hers and she have authored, “Discovering Me: Reality from within” and “Hidden Resources: Discovering your inner abilities and talents.” Politics are a large part of her background which has included a past appointment on the Alcohol and Drug Advisory Board in San Diego; past immediate President of the California Women’s Lead; current Secretary for the Section of Women in Public Administration for the American Society for Public Administration (ASPA); and Chair of the Section for Public Law and Administration (SPLA). She believes in giving back in order to make a contribution and a difference within society.
