Values are often mentioned in presentations or speeches about decision making, ethics, and relationships between public professionals and elected officials and citizens. Often, though, we don’t say exactly which values are involved and how they affect our thinking and action outcomes. This webinar explores several sources of public service values, identifying five “core” values that public professionals can use to make more effective decisions.

The five core values are:  Neutrality, Efficiency, Accountability, Public Service, and Public Interest. Applying them can help with value tradeoffs in complicated or confusing situations, making decisions and actions more focused and intentional. Implications for a sense of commitment to public service and the public interest will be emphasized.
