ASPA’s Michigan Capital Area Chapter will host an all day conference featuring local and city leaders. The panel-styled conference is geared to city and municipal workers. It will be held on the downtown campus of Grand Valley State University in the Eberhard Center. The theme is Talent and Retention In Michigan.
The opening speaker is Grand Rapids Mayor George Heartwell. Our honorary conference co-chair is Kurt Kimball, former city manager of the city of Grand Rapids.
Attendees can hear from experts in many areas of public service. The six concurrent panels will focus on Placemaking and the Arts: New and Best Practices; Education: Strategies for Developing Talent; Sustainability and Resiliency for Michigan Communities and Economic Development in Uncertain Times; Governing in Today’s Times: Understanding the Communities We Serve; and Talent and Retention: Competing in a Global Economy.
Speakers are from various organizations including local governments, area universities, nonprofit organizations and affiliated economic development groups across Michigan. To learn more, click here.
