Description:
Award-winning producer, director, and writer Geoff Haines-Stiles with his colleagues at NSF created a 4-part public television series about citizen science, crowdsourcing, and mobile tech-The Crowd and The Cloud. Their series delves into how the cumulative efforts of citizens are revolutionizing scientific enquirer through thousands of micro-contributions. Data, how we access it, and the frontiers we breach are also considered.Yet, nearly none of this would be possible without the support and effort of the government-from funding to partnerships, guiding regulation and governance. In this speaker session, Television and science documentary producer and director Mr. Haines-Stiles and Dr. McCallie of the National Science Foundation share how the efforts of public administrators joined with and continue to contribute and support this rising public interest to reshape modern science. |
