Candidates for Election

By PA Times Online
October 26, 2017

This November, American Society for Public Administration’s membership will once again vote in candidates for a variety of National Council positions, as well as vote on bylaws amendments as proposed by the Governance Taskforce.

Bylaws Amendments

ASPA’s bylaws are required to be reviewed and amended as necessary every five years. This year’s effort is the first that has been undertaken in more than 10. After a very thorough process on the part of ASPA’s Governance Task Force, and vigorous debating and voting on the part of the National Council, a comprehensive slate of amendments will be put in front of ASPA members for their vote.

You can find more information about this effort on ASPA’s website (http://www.aspanet.org/ASPA/ASPA/About-ASPA/National-Council-Elections/Bylaws-Amendments.aspx).

Candidates for Election

National Council positions are voted on annually, with individuals elected as Vice President serving four-year terms as they move through leadership posts: Vice President, President Elect, President and Immediate Past President. District Representatives each serve three-year terms and the Student Representative serves for one year.

Below you can see the list of candidates selected by this year’s Nominating Committee to run for office. You can also find more information about each candidate on the ASPA website.

Voting will begin on Nov. 7 when ballots are distributed electronically. Paper ballots will be mailed to those who request them. Only ASPA members may vote. If you are not a current ASPA member and wish to renew or reinstate your membership, please contact us ([email protected]) for assistance.
