Letter to the Editor

Pearl Harbor? Jesus on the cross? Are you kidding me? House Republican apologists for President Trump’s betrayal of America claim that yesterday’s impeachment was akin to these momentous moments. Sad, sad, sad—I am so glad, so glad that I walked away from identifying with the Republican Party.

Yet, I am so sad that 196 members of Republican Party in the United States House of Representatives saw fit to ignore their oath of office to defend the United States Constitution against, “All enemies, foreign and domestic.” Where do we go from here? Oh my gosh—no body knows, but when so many duly elected public officials are so unhinged it may be time to think the unthinkable—American democracy as we have known it is on it’s death bed!

As a patriot who proudly wore the uniform of the United States Air Force I am more than sadden by these events. I am mad as h… and unforgiving about the betrayal of our country. If I were one of those members of Congress I would hang my head in shame and find a rock to hide under.

“A house divided cannot stand,” President Lincoln got it right then and now. It’s time to pray for the wisdom to move forward and the courage to know right from wrong.
