PA TIMES Online Columnist Wins Teaching Award

PA TIMES Online columnist David Schultz was selected the 2013 Leslie A. Whittington Excellence in Teaching Award by NASPAA, formerly the National Association for Schools of Public Affairs and Administration.

Dr. David Schultz, a monthly columnist for PA TIMES, will be presented the award as part of NASPAA’s Annual Conference Oct. 9-10 in Washington DC. Dr. Schultz currently authors a regular column on public administration and the law. His articles discuss the intersection between constitutional law and legislation with public administration.

The NASPAA Excellence in Teaching Award recognizes faculty members who have made outstanding contributions to public administration education. Nominees must be located at NASPAA accredited institutions.  Dr. Schultz was nominated by several of his students including students, Eric Johnson, Kristi Rendahl, Erica Heras, Tessia Melvin, Anita Larson, and Robert Streetar. He will accept his award at a luncheon on Thursday, Oct. 10.

Dr. Schutlz is an adjunct professor at Hamline University School of Law. He is a nationally recognized expert in government, nonprofit, and business ethics, campaign finance reform, land use and eminent domain policy, law and politics. He teaches classes in government ethics, housing and economic development, privatization, and the foundation of public administration, and also holds appointments in the Department of Criminal Justice and Forensic Science where he teaches criminal justice and criminology, and in several local law schools where he offers classes in state and local law, legal ethics, election law, and state constitutional law.
